In 2011 I was invited, through the help of then-Sen. John Kerry’s office, to the White House to meet with President Barack Obama and present him with the three books of messages I had collected during my 2008 walk. In the spirit of the original project, and to gauge the change in peoples’ sentiment in the 34 months since his inauguration, I decided to walk to the meeting from Boston. I set out from Bacon Hill on Saturday 29th and arrived in the Capital on November 29th, dodging freak ice storms in Connecticut and meeting with both Occupy members and Tea Party members along the way, before sitting down with President Obama for a fifteen minute one-on-one in the Oval Office. You can see my account of that journey on this page.
